			<title>Day One</title>
			<para>
				The International Moth World Championships kicked off
				today on a Danish Fjord. The entry list promised a super
				high quality regatta with many new faces joining the
				established font runners. Current World Champion Rohan
				Veal is defending his crown with the European Champion
				Simon Payne, and runner up Adam May theoretically his
				closest rivals.
			</para>
			<para>
				With all but a couple of the 33 strong fleet now using
				hydrofoils this is a landmark event in the sailing
				World.
			</para>

				<title>Race 1</title>
				<para>
					Saw Sam Pascoe (GBR) lead out of the blocks to
					establish a huge lead at the first mark in a shifty
					and gusty offshore breeze. Rohan Veal from Australia
					extended on the chasing pack, which included Payne,
					Jason Belben, May, and Mark Robinson from Singapore.
					Veal chased Pascoe down, and won by 300 metres, and
					in the lightening winds Pascoe’s days were
					numbered. Payne lead the charge and but May was
					quicker to the line by ten metres. Sam sneaked
					fourth with Jason fifth and Robbo sixth.

				<title>Race 2</title>
				<para>
					In a building breeze Alex Knight of the camp epoxy
					team banged all the corners to round the windward
					mark so far ahead he made the gybe mark before the
					next boat rounded the windward mark. John Ilett (who
					we have to blame for all this and now claims we were
					not supposed to race them - it was just for fun!)
					rounded second followed by Jason Belben with the
					established stars all outside the top five.
				</para>
				<para>
					The pack bunched up at the gybe mark with six boats
					a couple of seconds apart. Alex Knight ended his
					fifteen minutes of fame with a capsize handing the
					baton to Jason followed Rohan, Adam and Sam. The
					leaders headed left but May lost wind and dropping
					off his foils gambled on hanging a right. This
					lucked out (as all champions tend to) with more
					pressure and a twenty degree lift. At the windward
					mark, it was Jason ahead of Payne just infront of
					May with Rohan and Sam in hot pursuit.
				</para>
				<para>
					Payne took the low road to hop Jason who also lost
					out to May, Veal with Sam fifth. That’s how they
					went round the leeward mark into lap three. Payne
					and May went left and Belben and Veal right. Left
					was right with Si leading Adam at the windward mark
					and Rohan and Jason taking a fifty metre hit. The
					only change in the final twenty knot downwind charge
					was Jason passing Rohan. So Si took it with Adam
					second, Jason third and Rohan fourth.

				<title>Race 3</title>
				<para>
					Race 3 saw a clean start and Britain's Adam May
					clear ahead at the windward mark, Simon Payne
					recovered from an average beat to pull up to second
					in hot pursuit of Adam. Reigning World Champion
					Rohan Veal went round third, neck and neck with
					Jason Belben. Payne closed the gap downwind, but May
					responded with a killer beat to (once again) lead
					comfortably at the windward mark. Payne and Veal
					gybed into more breeze and the three boats went
					round the gybe mark with nothing in it. With three
					spectacular foil borne gybes, pausing only for the
					camera of internationally aclaimed sailing
					photographer Thierry Martinez, the three raced
					downwind. Payne stole the lead on the run to the
					leeward mark but it was Veal who tacked first and
					hooked into the new pressure, and ultimately this
					was his winning move. At the finish it was Veal from
					Payne, with May third and Pascoe fourth.

				<title>Race 4</title>
				<para>
					The second race of the day developed with Veal early
					out of the blocks, tracked by Belben and May with
					Mark Robinson of Singapore in the frame. Germany's
					Sven Kloppenburg got the hole shot and led at the
					windward mark by a huge margin. ISAF president Goran
					Petersson watched the future of sailing as the
					chasing pack led by Belben, raced down wind and
					chased down Kloppenburg. Normal order was resumed by
					the end of lap two with Payne round the windward
					mark first for the final time with Veal and May on
					his hip. A solid beat from Payne ensured the same
					postions at the final windward mark and the roller
					coaster ride to the finish began. With gusts
					appearing from all directions Paynes lead was
					seriously stressed as the others gybe into more
					pressure. At the finish Payne crossed just three
					seconds in front of a hard charging Veal making a
					giant kangaroo hop over May and Belben who were
					locked together in a windless vacuum likened to
					outer space.

			<title>Day Three</title>
			<para>
				A steady breeze from the East of around 10 - 12 knots
				greeted the fleet today to provide a welcome change from
				the shifty conditions of the previous days. With the
				change in wind direction there was a tricky chop to
				negotiate downwind.

					Adam May had a great start out of the middle of the
					line, and headed left. Extending out from underneath
					the leading bunch as they got into the left to lead
					round the top, followed by Veal, and Belben. Veal
					was able to soak low below May's line on the run and
					gybe on top to squeeze round the gybe mark ahead.
					Belben had done similar and went round side by side
					with May. Payne had a good downwind to join the
					leading trio at the leeward mark. Four boats rounded
					together with Veal holding a lead and May and Belben
					locked together. At the finish, Veal crossed first
					with Jason Belben claiming a well earned second and
					May third.

				<title>Race 6</title>
				<para>
					Most of the front runners came off the pin end of
					the line after a left shift near start time, and
					headed left. Payne led the bunch from the gun and
					led round the first mark with Belben and May and in
					hot pursuit. Veal went round fourth. Veal gybed
					early and went round the next mark second and from
					then the leading two. On the second beat Mark
					Robinson hit the right and went round the windward
					mark second in front of Veal. Payne held on to his
					lead and claimed the win with Veal coming through to
					second and May third.

				<title>Race 7</title>
				<para>
					Following a night of thunderstorms the race officer
					held the fleet for a couple of hours today until it
					settled in the right direction. In a building breeze
					race 7 started with Payne striking the beat just
					right and leading around the windward mark. Robinson
					of Singapore was second, then May, Belben and Veal.
				</para>
				<para>
					As the wind built Payne maintained his lead and the
					places swapped behind him. Veal eventually came
					through to take second with Robinson hanging on to
					third place and May fourth. Payne win restored the
					points balance and after seven races Payne and Veal
					were now effectively tied.

				<title>Race 8</title>
				<para>
					Race eight started in only about 6/7 knots of
					breeze, and it was Payne who managed to get foiling
					off the start line to lead round the windward mark
					by quite a margin from Sven Kloppenburg from
					Germany, and Robinson. In the lighter pressure the
					decision to go for foils, or stay lowriding was a
					tricky one, and the remaining fleet was closely
					bunched. The usual suspects soon pulled through, and
					with more pressure on the second lap it was Payne
					leading comfortably from Robinson, Belben, Veal and
					May. On the final beat with it getting late in the
					day the pressure started to drop, and May managed to
					continue foiling long enough to get into third
					behind Robinson at the windward mark. Keeping it in
					the air along the reach he then moved into second
					before the wind died, leaving the fleet in lowriding
					mode for the final few legs. Payne won by 17 minutes
					as everyone else drifted home. May finished second,
					from Belben, Robinson and Veal.
