Aside from the boat, what will i need to take into account for sailing a moth?
what are the rough weight/wind speed combinations?
do the different makes and models of moth vary in difficulty?

I know NOTHING about these boats, so any advice would be appreciated

thank you all.

Best thing to start with is borrowing a foiler somewhere. If you have the choice of boats a modern, well set up foiler would be best as they are the easiest to sail.
If you have to travel hundres of km to try a boat, do it. Even getting on a plane just for trying the Moth would be worth the money. (I don't knwo where you're from and I was told that there are countries in the world where the Moth is unknown. I think that's a legend though)

If climbing on board the boat, swimming and eventually sailing in a straight line and foiling are fine for you start talking to Moth sailors as much as possible.
Given your budget is sufficient I'd recommend to buy a good boat second hand. Go out sailing as much as possible and don't stop talking to other Mothies.

Cheers
